SnoopSoft Dashboard Manual - Agenda / Tasks Module
In order to conserve memory, the Agenda and Tasks share a SnoopSoft Dashboard module. Therefore, both Agenda and Tasks will be covered in this section.
SnoopSoft Dashboard Date Formats
The Agenda view uses the regional Date and Time settings stored in the PocketPC when displaying dates and times.
All Date Headers in the Agenda module are currently displayed using the default long date format.
Appt. Date Header
The Appointment Date Header acts as a separator between dates in the Agenda View.
To make the best use of available space, tapping on the Date Header for a particular day will toggle
the view between multi-line, single line, or date only. Up to seven (7) days can be selected to display
in the Agenda view, however, the Agenda module will only display as many days in the view as will fit - there
is currently no scrolling.
Keep in mind that increasing the number of days viewed will have a direct impact on
how long it takes to load the appointments.
Appt. List
The Appointment List acts as the main display area for your appointments. Tapping on an appointment
in the list will open it up for viewing. If no appointments are currently scheduled for that day, then
the text 'No upcoming appointments' will be displayed. There is also an option available to not display
a date that has no appointments, however, the current date will always be displayed whether it has appointments
or not. The current or next upcoming appointment for the day will be shown in bold text and as appointments pass,
they will automatically scroll off the display. There is an option available to keep them from scrolling off when
they pass and always show them in the list so you can see what you've been doing for the day.
Icons
The Agenda module can optionally display icons beside your appointments and tasks that denote such things as:
recurring items; whether a reminder will sound; whether the item is private; etc... The display of icons can be
turned on or off through the Options dialog.
Task Category Header
If there's any space left over, the Agenda module will display as many Tasks as will fit in the remaining space.
You can use the Task Category Header to select whatever Task Category is most important for viewing here.
All Task Categories assigned to your Tasks are available for selection as well as 'Active', 'Due Today' and 'All'.
Simply tap on the Task Category Header to change the displayed category.
Task List
Below the Task Category Header is the Task List. All applicable Tasks (based on the selected category) will be
displayed here (or as many as will fit on the screen). Tapping on a Task will open it up for viewing. Tapping on
the box next to a Task will mark it as Complete (or Incomplete if it's already Complete). By default, marking a
Task as Complete will cause it to be removed from the display, but this is a feature that can be turned on or off through the Options.
Options
Enable Automatic Refresh
The Appointment Refresh Interval determines how often the Agenda/Tasks Module will refresh the data on the screen.
This all happens automatically in the background every 5 minutes (default setting).
Days to Load
This setting allows you to configure how many days (maximum of 7) that you would like to load from the internal Calendar database.
You should keep this setting as close to as many days that will fit on the display as possible.
For instance, if you schedule a lot of appointments and can only fit 2 days on the screen at one time,
setting this number to anything higher than 2 will cause the Agenda module to load more data than can be displayed
on the screen. The higher this number the longer it can take to load the Appointment data.
NOTE: If the option 'Hide dates without Appointments' is enabled then Dashboard will load up to 7 days looking for 2 days with
Appointments assuming that this option is set to 2 days.
Force One Line Display
To maximize the use of space, enable this option and the Agenda module will only use one line to
display each appointment instead of the two lines that it uses by default. Additionally, you can
reconfigure how the Agenda module displays appointments by tapping on the date heading above each
day's appointments. This will toggle between two line, single line or collapsed (hide appointments) views for just that day.
Allow Subject to Wrap
Check off this option to wrap long subject lines to the second line. By default, the
Agenda module displays the subject on the first line and the location on the second line.
If this option is enabled, the location is appended to the end of the subject in parenthesis () on the second line.
Show Icons
Enable/disable the display of Task and Appointment icons such as the Reminder,
Alarm and Participant icons. These icons display from the right side of the screen and
can potentially limit the amount of text that is displayed on a line.
Show only Start Time
For the true minimalists out there, you can turn off the display of the end time
and gain back even more space to display your appointments. Change your time
display (in the Regional Settings) to use military time (24 hr time) and you'll
get the maximum use out of the small screens on the PocketPC.
Show Location
Enable/disable the display of the Appointment Location...
Show Tasks on Agenda View
By default, on the Agenda view, Tasks are only displayed after all of the days requested for the
Agenda view. There are 3 values for this option:
Never - Don't show any Tasks on the Agenda View
Group By Category - Show Tasks on the Agenda view displayed after all Appointments and grouped by Task Category
Group By Date - Show Tasks on the Agenda view on the Date that they are due
Hide Past Due Appts.
By default, the Agenda module will not show appointments whose time has passed (i.e. no longer upcoming or current). Uncheck this option to force the Agenda module to always display all appointments for the current day regardless of whether they are in the past or the future.
Hide Dates without Appts.
Enable this option and the Agenda module will not display any Days on the Agenda view that don't have any appointments (or Tasks if the Tasks are being displayed under the dates). This was a user requested feature because some people prefer to see dates where they have no appointments and other people don't like the clutter.
Hide Appt. Count For Date
By default, the Agenda module will display a count of the number of appointments in the header line for each day. Some people wrote in that they can count just fine and don't need this, while others really like it, so I've made it an optional feature.
Show Completed Tasks
Enable/disable the display of Completed Tasks. Default is to not show Completed Tasks so that they don't clutter up the view.
Show Due Date
Some people never set Due Dates for Tasks and this option will hide the Due Dates and allow even more space on the screen to be used to display Tasks.
Confirm Completion
With this option enabled (default), a confirmation dialog will appear whenever you tap on the box on the screen to indicate that a Task is complete. Turn this option off if you've got good aim and aren't worried about tapping the wrong Task as Completed.
Show Tasks with no Start Date or End Date as 'Due Today'
I took a poll a while ago and these last 2 options seemed to cover 90% of how people wanted their Tasks with no start/end dates to be handled.
Show Tasks with no Start Date as 'Active'
I took a poll a while ago and these last 2 options seemed to cover 90% of how people wanted their Tasks with no start/end dates to be handled.
